Disaster Waste Recovery

DWR is established in order to provide support to communities affected by disasters and to increase the capacity of operational agencies.

In the aftermath of disasters, large amounts of solid waste can accumulate. This poses a threat to public health, and hinders reconstruction. On the other hand, this waste can provide a resource for rebuilding, and creates income generating possibilities.

Most recently, DWR has run disaster waste management projects in Mexico and South Ossetia, and has worked to increase the capacity of Oxfam and SRSA in disaster waste management.

Please contact info@disasterwaste.org to apply to be a member of the DWR register of experts, for information on partnership agreements or any other discussion or enquiries. Alternatively, visit the DWR website: www.disasterwaste.org.
